Not only is it sweet like licorice, star anise is amazing to add in delectable cooking and brewing. There is just something stunning about star anise that makes it so exclusive. Yet, its rare flavor stands out from the rest. At Hatha Tea we decided it was time to introduce star anise to our friends taste pallets. Hence, our Xing blend was created by bringing together traditional Chinese Oolong and sweet star anise into an exotic fusion. Xing is the Chinese word for star or the luminous points we see in the night sky. This name gives cultural spin to our signature tea blends, especially since Hatha Tea is all about filling a teapot with culture.
Of course, what better way to enjoy a Hatha Tea morning than with some Xing and something sweet. Yup that's right if your going to enjoy some Xing the right way its best to do it in the morning since it does contain caffeine. Meanwhile we purchased some goodies from our local farmers market that would go perfectly with our Xing blend. They were anise seed cookies and baklava. This would be a match made in paradise for our morning tea social with friends. It doesn't get any better than being with close friends eating anise seed cookies, baklava, and sipping delicious Xing. The anise seed cookies were made from scratch the traditional eastern way. Baklava is a dessert commonly eaten in many places as well.
