Austin has been experiencing a growing trend in gardening different herbs, and we wanted in on all the progress. By locating one of Austin's herb havens we were able to find a local, natural gardening oasis. The air was crisp and the sun was shining brightly, making it a great day to explore some of nature’s finest essence. Herbs have been cultivated for many purposes including food, medicinal, and tea flavoring among many other things. There are so many different creations people can make with the variety of herbs. At Hatha Tea, we find inspiration from all around. It starts with every small seed that grows into something we can use for good health, well-being, and overall goodness.
Upon our arrival at the herb haven, there was a feeling of exploration into a world full of various flavors, scents, and colors. Breathing in the fresh aromas and absorbing the sunlight in a tranquil atmosphere really made us be in harmonious tune with the surroundings. An abundance of herbs from sage to oregano surrounded us in a magnificent herbal sanctuary. I particularly loved the vibrant smell of lemon scented mint. Soon Hatha Tea will introduce some blends for all the mint lovers out there. Whether you like peppermint or spearmint its freshness will steep beautifully in combination with other wholesome flavors. Let's face it mint is not just for mojitos, but also for a nice hot or cold cup of tea.
At Hatha Tea we take pride in supporting our local gardeners. In fact, we became inspired to begin planting various herbs ourselves. With the help from some friends we grew plenty of basil right in our backyard. Basil has several culinary uses, but is wonderful to add in tea just by steeping fresh basil for 7-10 minutes. We are looking forward to creating a blend that includes basil with maybe some bay leaves, parsley, or even fennel. There is something about Italian herbs that is fascinating, especially since they have many uses. Wherever this herb exploration takes us it will be somewhere in which we can bring nature into every cup of tea.
